White's Windmill Cafe has settled comfortably into village life on Mill Lane, offering a straightforward, no-fuss spot for coffee, a chat, and solid food. The cafe feels like a practical stop-off for locals and visitors alike, especially for those who appreciate honest portions and friendly, familiar service. It’s the type of place where regulars come for their morning caffeine fix or a midday catch-up over home-baked cake.

The atmosphere is unpretentious and cozy, reflecting its close-knit community role. The small footprint and limited menu suggest a focus on doing a few things well — from hearty Full English breakfasts that leave you set for the day, to classic burgers and kid-friendly plates like chicken nuggets with chips and beans. This makes it a comfortable choice for families, walkers, and anyone after a modest, reliable meal without the fuss.

One of the defining features is the connection to the adjacent windmill, which, although currently closed for renovation, adds a distinctive local character to the spot. This landmark ties the cafe to its rural surroundings, inviting visitors to pause and appreciate this slice of Chinnor’s heritage, whether before or after enjoying their food.

The staff are often mentioned as warm and accommodating, creating a relaxed environment that suits casual visits — whether for a quick breakfast on a weekday morning or a more leisurely brunch at the weekend. You can ring ahead to have your meal ready, a convenience that appeals to those on a tighter schedule.

  • Best for: Locals and visitors who want a hearty breakfast or trouble-free lunch in a village cafe setting
  • Atmosphere: Casual, friendly, and community-oriented with a touch of countryside charm from the nearby windmill
  • Ideal visit times: Mornings and weekend brunches, especially when seeking a quiet place for caffeine and homemade cake
  • Who will enjoy it: Families, walkers, and anyone looking for a dependable meal served with a side of small-town hospitality

Really lovely little village cafe. The ladies are friendly and bake everything themselves. Great for a coffee morning.

We had an amazing buffet for 30 people on New Years Eve. Fabulous choice of food, plenty of it which included delicious homemade cakes at a very reasonable price. Lovely friendly helpful staff. I will be using them again for future events. Thank you

We went here for a late breakfast / brunch and were extremely happy with the food and service. This is very much a small diner / café with limited menu but very much met our requirements on the day. There is a wonderful windmill adjacent to the café but unfortunately it was closed for renovation so we will have to go another time.

Such a nice bunch. Great use of a community space. So good I came back the following weekend for 3 omelettes, big breakfast and some cake !! You can call ahead and it's ready when you arrive. See photo of menu.

You need to know it’s here. Even when I parked up, I had to look around for the cafe (community centre). Very friendly service, I arrived at a busy time and fairly warned that there was a wait. Reasonable priced, gut buster breakfast with tea at £8. Food was tasty, hot and appetising. Bring your own marmelade as they were out. Worth a visit, be patient as food is worth it!

This is a nice, friendly little pop-up cafe that is run by two very friendly, conscientious and efficient ladies. It's a place that welcomes everyone and does very good value snacks and meals prepared to a high quality. You know it's good when people from outside the village are coming for their breakfasts, elevenses, lunch, or just a cuppa! My recommendation; the Full English Breakfast with coffee for £6.50 at the time of writing! Check the website for opening times as they aren't open everyday and for a preview of their menu.

A great little pop-up cafe in the community centre. They do panini and burgers, but I think the all-day fried breakfasts are the real stars here. They do proper old-school greasy spoon breakfasts, with generous servings and everything made fresh to order. Plus, they have good quality ketchup and brown sauce in full-sized squeezy bottles on the tables, which I think makes a big difference. Prices are very reasonable too (and for some things, like the breakfast baps, downright cheap). We were only visiting Chinnor for the day, but if this cafe was closer we would come all the time. But when we were there it was quite empty. Come on people of Chinnor, use it or lose it!
